Hey there and welcome to the Perks on Earth blog!

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit Perks On Earth! My name is Ella Perks, and this blog is a little extension of me- my travels, passions, and personal reflections. As I embark on a new chapter in life, one of travel and exploration, I thought – no better time to build my writing portfolio than with a blog I can take along with me on the road!

I am currently in Australia, the fifth leg of a trip with no real end point. After graduating from Health Science and Society at Edinburgh University I am taking a long awaited gap year(/s)! I have always been passionate about travel, about meeting people from all over the world and experiencing different cultures and communities, and finally I have found the freedom to do just that. The past few months have looked something like this; backpacking around Thailand, Vietnam, Loas and Cambodia and then flying on to Sydney Australia and making the next plan! I am lucky enough to have picked up some more loved ones along the way, as well as doing some solo time to see everything I’ve dreamt of seeing! The plan is vague and that’s the excitement of it- who knows where it will take me, and through that- where this blog will go!

I wouldn’t call myself a writer by any means, but writing has always been a creative outlet for me- jotting down notes, poems, letters and stories about anything and everything. I have always wanted to start a blog, to document my experiences along with my hopes, dreams, and reflections, so here we go! I hope you enjoy some of my content; not even I know what it’s going to entail quite yet!

I have grown up with the saying ‘the world is your oyster’ etched into my brain – and I am setting off to prove that to myself; with the right determination and mindset, we can achieve anything. I hope you enjoy a random collection of stories and reflections as I navigate my way through my early adulthood – wherever that may take me!

on a side note- both my spelling and grammar are known to be atrocious so bare with me and I hope at least some of this makes sense- enjoy! 🙂
